EMS & Ambulances

Advanced life support ambulance transport, with ALS first response on every engine and ladder company.

Emergency Medical Services

The EMS Division is responsible for providing advanced life support (ALS) ambulance transport service as well as ALS first-response engine and ladder companies, EMS training for district members, and community CPR and First Aid classes. All district paramedics are trained in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

Ambulances 4417 and 4427 are staffed by two paramedic/firefighters and carry technologically advanced patient care equipment. Engine Company 4414 and Ladder Company 4425 both carry ALS equipment and have at least one paramedic on board at all times. On life-threatening EMS calls, both the ambulance and the closest fire truck are dispatched, placing multiple paramedics and ALS equipment on scene within one to four minutes.

The LifePak 15 allows paramedics to perform a full 15-lead EKG on patients experiencing chest pain and transmit it to the receiving cardiac center, letting the emergency department, cardiologists, and cath lab prepare before the patient arrives. It also allows paramedics to monitor for carbon monoxide poisoning.
